Bankruptcy is not a failure, it is a safety net
May 11th, 2015
Filing for bankruptcy can be an overwhelming process. Finding a good attorney, gathering the mountain of documents required for the courts, and notifying your creditors of your intentions can be very intimidating. Many of our clients begin traveling this road with a feeling of shame, guilt, and embarrassment. We know how the process works and we know the emotions that go with the steps. People feel that there is a stigma that goes along with filing for bankruptcy and they automatically feel like they’ve failed. Bankruptcy is not a failure. Bankruptcy is a safety net. It’s there to catch you if you find yourself so overwhelmed by the debt you have that you can’t make ends meet. This tipping point can be for any number of reasons, such as medical bills, divorce, a lost job, or a struggling business. People make mistakes and bankruptcy is a tool to use when you’re trying to rebuild your life in a positive direction. There is no need to feel shame or to be embarrassed. Life happens. We can help get you on the road to financial recovery. In the end, most of our clients have those feelings of embarrassment replaced with feelings of relief and absolution. We look forward to the opportunity to serve many more people, families and small businesses in this capacity.
